I love this title, it is extremely relatable! And thanks for the book recommendation, it sounds like the cultural version of a book I've recently enjoyed (and also baked my brain) that was about economic cycles - "Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order" by Ray Dalio. I so enjoy stumbling upon book recommendations I've never heard of!
I just looked up the Dalio book. It does sound like the economic partner to 4th Turning-- I'll have to check it out. Trading book recommendations is the best!
Yay to your “nerdiness” 😊 (As you put it!) I’m very glad you shared your philosophical musings—the idea of the cyclical nature of time and living according to the old/ancient agricultural calendar really made me think…thank you for this.
Purslane is a weed that is everywhere in my yard, easy to pull up,glad to know actual name…I am not going to eat it!
Life is difficult sometimes! I have lots of experiences in cycles of time : child growing up on a farm,a young adult, going to college, marriage at an early age, having children, divorce, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, getting old.
And then you “Plant your garden and decorate your own soul!”
Always blessings and joy in our cycles of life!
I have more flowers than weeds in my garden. I love flowers!
That is a beautiful summing up, Grandma. You have certainly had an amazing life and seen so many changes in the world! You've worked hard to keep those weeds down. Your flower garden is gorgeous!
We forage. My husband (the actual gardener around here) enjoys purslane, but I can't get over the weird texture.
As for the rest of the stuff you wrote about--I'm not sure I'm smart enough to understand it all, but I think it would be super interesting to have you take The Walk course I teach for the Pilgrimage Online, about stages of faith, to see if you think there's any sort of overlap between the two types of progression.
I'll most likely be offering it again in May/June. The next one coming up is a life-mapping/life-review course called Stepping into the Story. You may have seen the post about that one. 😊

I'm so glad it resonated with you.
I mulch a lot so I don’t have the weeds. I have planted about 30 lilies and 20 iris since your last update and my garden is largely done for the year.
We didn't mulch nearly enough; the weeds are winning here.
It seems like there’s never enough mulch, or time to apply it!
I had no idea those juicy weeds I pull out of my driveway were edible. Thanks for doing that taste test!
LOL they do love a driveway!
Cycle of time,earthly struggles,too many weeds…
Let me explain…Let me sum it up!

Foraging is great! My interest is piqued for your course; sounds really interesting.

I'll check it out, thanks!
Same over here--and the weeds went crazy over the past two weeks!
