I absolutely loved your pics! I hadn’t seen a milkweed pod since leaving the Midwest, and I’d never seen a Monarch caterpillar before this post! Please keep the “wholesome, nerdy content” coming 😊
I do not wish for longer summers because they are too brutal here 😬 but I've gone out over the past week and conditio ed the soil in some garden carts and large containers and sowed carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, two varieties of beans and marigolds. Then ran inside before I burst into flames.
I'm not sure I would stay upright in southern heat. Pretty convinced I would wilt before I ever got much gardening done. Hat's off to you for gardening like you do!
I agree—it takes a lot of grit to garden in the extreme heat! Here, we’re in week 2 of “stay-indoors” level wildfire smoke, just when there’s so much to do in the garden 😬 As soon as I can get back outside, I’ll sow wintering-over spinach and hope it’s not too late!
While I adore the long summer days, I have to admit that the recent cool nights have been very welcome. We've been fortunate to have escaped the extreme heat that so many people got this year.
Beautiful photos! I have always been one that has longed for fall. However, for the first time this year I’m wishing that the long days of summer would stretch on for just a bit longer.

Thank you! I forget how fortunate we are to be able to attract monarchs, until I hear from people outside the Midwest.
😁 I do my best in the summer because I feel guilty when my plants wither in the heat.
Beautiful photos of your harvest and plants!

That must be so frustrating! What a terrible time of year to be stuck inside.
Very nice garden! Love the log raised beds! I also hope summer would stretch on and on. But we're really heading fast into another long autumn here..
Thank you!
Beautiful photos. I especially love the rustic wooden table filled with tomatoes and green beans. The essence of late summer captured!
Thank you, Lynn!
Beautiful photos and what a great harvest!
I love sunny weather, but I’m excited for Fall and respite from the summer heat.
And thank you! Just checked out your Substack and it looks lovely. Just subscribed!
Thank you so much!!! That’s so kind of you!

Thank you! I do love fall, but winter arrives so quickly on its heels. And winter is too long.
