Trying a new type of post…
I take oodles of photos most days. You’ve probably seen the meme: “One minute you’re young, hip, & carefree, & the next minute you’re photographing vegetables in your garden.” I strongly resemble this meme, and I’m unlikely to change any time soon. I post a fair number of the photos I take on our Instagram (mostly in Stories) but very few end up here on Substack. So I thought I might try out a photo dump post & see what you all think about it.
Milestone Announcement
Today, this little blog reached 201 subscribers! You’ll now see the byline “Hundreds of subscribers” when The Suburb Farm comes up on the Substack site. I have to admit, it’s pretty thrilling! I have a big old lump of gratitude welling up behind my sternum for all you readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you for subscribing, reading, liking, commenting, sharing, and just being marvelous! And a special thank you to the people IRL who’ve been the cheerleaders, sometime critics, & stalwart believers that there were people out there who were interested in reading about our little suburban farm.
How is your July garden so far? What are you harvesting? Are you having a weird year with successes & failures of certain plants? Do you photograph your vegetables? And what are your thoughts on more photo posts, monthly or bi-weekly, in addition to the regular posts?

I’m reading this a second time—just love all the pics. Oh, kale. I grew it for years because it’s healthy. Then this year, I finally got real. I just don’t like it enough to grow it, do the row cover thing because of cabbage worms, or process it either!
I adored your pics—I’m so glad you shared. I think you can be hip *and* be all about taking photos of your garden! Please keep ‘em coming. And big Congrats on your subscriber milestone 😊
