Snow, Snow, Snow
Quite a bit of thick wet snow today and some wind. It was a snow day for local schools, but the roads were ploughed by early afternoon. The sun was warm enough to make slush that will become ice overnight as the temperature drops again. There were lovely giant flakes and the power stayed on. So this is not one of those posts where I bemoan the winter and wax on about my yearning for the spring. But…
I had the thought that maybe I hadn’t given our flowers enough time in the limelight this past growing season. So here is a floral photo extravaganza to brighten your feed.
And a low-key announcement:
There will be an option for paid subscriptions to The Suburb Farm, but it will be just that— an option. All posts will remain free and public, including the archives. There will be a special introductory price for paid subscriptions over the next month. This Substack is a labor of love, and I’ll continue to send it out gratis. The time spent photographing, editing, researching, and writing does take time, of course. At this point, with over 2 years in to this endeavor, I figured I’d take the baby step of calling myself a writer, and to take the next step of using my words to help support my family. Please know that whether you continue to read and engage as a free or paid subscriber, I am so glad you’re here!

These flowers are beautiful! Here in North Carolina (zone 8), I’m starting seeds indoors for many of these this week. I do love the muted colors of our winter garden (no snow this year, but lots of brown), but I can’t wait for the flowers to return.
Gorgeous blooms, and I especially like your two-tone cosmos.
